Karakol Yani Cami in Selcuk
The Karakol Yani Cami dates far back as the 14th century. It is situated on the Selçuk – Kusadasi road. There is also an ancient cemetery by the left side of the Mosque, giving the Mosque quite a mystical feel.
Although the Mosque is ancient, it still functions and manages to retain its original appeal. It has quite a high dome that is supported by a rather elevated octagonal pulley and is covered in tiles all over. It also has small but beautiful stained glass windows. There is just one slender minaret just in front of the Mosque. Several plants surround the building, as its courtyard is filled with those, giving Karakol Yani Cami a beautiful sight and feel. In 2005, a reconstruction of the Mosque began and it was eventually completed a year later in 2006, so it’s quite new when you consider how long it’s been since it was first made.
